Ingalls receives new contract for new America-class amphibious assault ship
Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith welcome a $70.8 million Navy contract to Ingalls. The contract is the latest installment towards acquiring long lead-time materials for a new America-class amphibious assault ship.
This is the seventh contract towards the construction of this type of ship at Ingalls.
Work associated with this contract is expected to be completed by April 2024.
The ship is designed to deliver a marine unit, functioning like a smaller aircraft carrier.
