Indy the missing tortoise was last seen in Gulfport

A turtle in terrible trouble, the six-year-old reptile belonging to a Mandeville woman was taken and has been seen around Gulfport.

The curious creature apparently escaped from his yard and was picked up near his family’s home. The Mississippi Aquarium reports that two men tried to sell them the displaced creature, but the men quickly left when questioned.

Melanie tells News 25 that people all around Gulfport have reached out, claiming to have seen the tortoise as recently as Wednesday. “I have a trail now. Ever since yesterday I started posting to all those sites for lost pets. Ever since yesterday morning, I’ve gotten people who’ve messaged me, called me, saying, ‘We’ve seen him, we took pictures,’ or ‘They came here and they were trying to give him away.’ I’ve talked to so many people, and we’re just so close, yet so far away.”
