Indicted on felony charge of embezzlement

A former public information officer with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department finds herself behind bars now, indicted on a felony charge of embezzlement.
According to the indictment, 47-year-old Cherie Ward of Ocean Springs is accused of converting her own use money having a value of $1,340, the property of the Thin Blue Line Trust, a nonprofit organization of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The embezzlement allegedly occurred between March and May 2015. Ward is being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center pending bond.
