Indecent comments made to Harrison County supervisor

A Harrison County official claims a longtime lobbyist made a crude sexual demand to her in front of other officials at a social event.
District 1 Supervisor Beverly Martin claims that Lobbyist Scott Levanway used a vulgar expression to demand a sex act from her. A post on Martin’s Facebook page explains the situation. The post later asked the question: “This is how our state treats women?”
Martin tells the Sun Herald she has known Levanway for more than a decade and called his behavior “bizarre.”
Levanway issued an apology stating: “It was an ill-advised and totally unacceptable comment that was intended as a joke. I hope that she can forgive me. My parents taught me that a good man takes responsibility for his mistakes and then makes them right.”
Levanway went on to say in the statement: “while I cannot erase the offense, I am taking fully responsibility.”
