Incumbent Mike Smith wins Waveland mayoral election

The results are in for the Waveland mayoral election.

Incumbent Mike Smith is re-elected as the Waveland mayor. He led the race with 738 votes. Jay Trapani had 472 votes and Tommy Longo won 99 votes.

Mayor Smith tells News 25 the work he has done over the course of his previous term was effective, which is the main reason he was reelected for another four year term. The mayor has a four year plan to address the city’s issues.

Mayor Smith says the community motivates him to do even bigger and better things for the City of Waveland. “What I’ve done for the last four years has made a difference. The people recognize that difference. I’m ecstatic, that’s all I can say. I’m very happy.”

Mayor Smith plans to address the Coleman Avenue issue and elevation issue as a part of that four year plan.
