Inaugural Mississippi Gulf Coast Pickle Fest draws huge crowd to Jackson County Fairgrounds

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV)- Over the weekend, the first ever Mississippi Gulf Coast Pickle Fest turned the Jackson County Fairgrounds into a full day of pickle-themed fun.

Thousands of pickle lovers gathered in Pascagoula to celebrate the inaugural Mississippi Gulf Coast Pickle Fest, filling the Jackson County Fairgrounds with excitement. For some vendors, the overwhelming turn out surpassed all expectations. Vendor Tanyrelle Robertson said, “We sold out and everything. It’s been pretty good and I didn’t expect for it to be this good because it’s the first annual, but it turned out pretty good. I love it and now I’m about to go walk around and see what else they have out here.”

Between the food, shopping, and live music, there was something to keep everyone entertained. Event Organizer Kat Pasley said she didn’t realize pickles were such a ‘big dill.’ “I just got goosebumps because this was supposed to start at 11 a.m. and we told everyone to come at 10 because we knew everyone was going to come early. Well, 10:30, it was already busy and 11 a.m., it was already packed. So, we’re just excited that it went so well. Everyone has big events in Louisiana, Alabama, or up north. So, we figured we bring it down here to the Coast and it’s turned out amazing.”

With a strong turn out and enthusiastic feedback, the event showed how a common interest in pickles can bring the community together.

As the festival wrapped up, pickle lovers from across the Coast enjoyed the festivities which organizers hope marks the start of a new tradition.
