Importance of voting on Primary Election Day
Earlier today, our cameras stopped at the Lyman Community Center voting precinct to talk to voters about why they’re casting a ballot today.
So far, it’s been a slow morning at the particular precinct, but that did not deter some voters from making the early stop to vote.
Here’s more now from a few local citizens about the issues that are important to them in this year’s election cycle. Voter Deborah Alverson said, “A lot of people died for the freedom for us to do this. And if you want your voice heard, and your opinion heard, then you need to vote.”
Voter Victor Tyler said, “Like to see more money put towards public education. Whether it’s elementary schools all the way to the universities.”
“The crime rate that needs to be tackled, drugs, mental health. You have a lot of young people running around here that don’t have nowhere to go and it’s hard.”
Voter Chris Bird said, “Major issues for me are Homeland Security. Security at the border, the economy in general, inflation. I don’t think anybody can deny that, rich or poor.”
Polls close at 7 tonight. Tune into WXXV News 25 at 9 and 10 for live election returns.
