IMMS releases sea turtles into Mississippi Sound
South Mississippi watched as a team from the Institute of Marine Mammal Studies released a new batch of sea turtles into the Mississippi Sound.
On the beach in Pass Christian, IMMS sent four rehabbed sea turtles back into the ocean with satellite transmitters to track the turtles.
The event also featured a spectacle of twelve sea turtle hatchlings that were released. They were discovered in a recent nest excavation.
The last documented hatching of sea turtles on the Mississippi Coast was in 2018.
