I-10 Bridge Repair Project Scheduled Beginning Oct. 14th

The Mississippi Department of Transportation (M.D.O.T.) is announcing scheduled lane closures along I-10 beginning October 14th in Hancock County at the Mississippi – Louisiana state line.

The bridge joint repair project on I-10 over the Pearl River was awarded to Key, LLC of Madison for $450,000.

Work is scheduled to begin October 14th and take about two weeks to complete. One lane in each direction eastbound and westbound will be closed while repairs are being made. Wide loads will be restricted to a maximum width of 11 feet.

Work will take place continuously- 24 hours straight during the two week timeframe- in order to expedite the project.

“Work on this project will take place around the clock to minimize the impact to motorists who must travel along I-10 during the two week construction time frame,” said Southern District Transportation Commissioner, Tom King. “This bridge maintenance work is an example of the priority M.D.O.T places on the safety of the driving public.”

Motorists should consider alternate routes while repair work is taking place, as major traffic delays are expected during this time.
