Hurricane Season Ends Today
There’s still several hours left for the day but it looks as though the Coast has made it through another hurricane season.
The season runs from June 1st until November 30th. Months ago, state weather and emergency management officials predicted it would be a slow season but to be on watch because it only takes one hurricane to have an active season.
Coast emergency management officials tell News 25 this year’s hurricane season did end up being a slow one but most of the activity came in the form of late fall storms. Emergency Management Director Rupert Lacy said, “Mother Nature was on our side. The forecasters did get it right. We saw a lot of rain. We did see a lot of high wind readings during these late season thunderstorms that rolled through but it’s a development of the tropical system. Harrison County, Mississippi Gulf Coast was spared once again another year.”
Now that hurricane season is winding down, Lacy tells the Coast to prepare for a cold and wet winter.
