Hurricane Season Begins
While the sun is shining and the water is calm today, we have all experienced worse weather conditions here in South Mississippi.
Hurricane season begins today and MEMA wants you to be prepared. Officials suggest having emergency kits ready along with evacuation routes so you know where to go.
City leaders gathered last week to update and review their hurricane plans and test their emergency alarm systems. Emergency management agencies urge residents to prepare now before severe weather hits.
Ocean Springs resident Bill Poole said, “I went ahead and bought my plywood at Lowe’s and measured the windows and cut the plywood to the size of the windows and got the attachments you can also buy at Lowe’s. I fit it all on my windows. I got 12 windows that are fitted with plywood that I could very easily reattach the plywood in the event that a hurricane does come in.”

Hurricane season lasts until November 30th.
