Hurricane Preparedness Week in Mississippi

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- May 5th marks the second day of Hurricane Preparedness Week in the Magnolia State.

Day two focuses on preparations ahead of hurricane season.

The state’s emergency management agency says everyone needs to develop an evacuation plan.

Supplies, such as food, water, batteries, physical cash, and an emergency radio should be found as soon as possible.

It is also suggested to create a communication plan with a hand written list of contacts.

Ahead of leaving, strengthen your home, get an insurance checkup and document all possessions.
