Hurricane Isaias causes minimal impacts to Jackson County
PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV) — As hurricane Isaias made landfall in Florida, conditions became very breezy here on the Mississippi coast.
We got a look from Jackson County, who had prepared for potential severe impacts from the storm, but residents in Pascagoula were pleased with how the evening turned out.
People could be seen at Pascagoula Beach Pier fishing, flying kites on the sand and walking their dogs. One resident we spoke with says the cool, windy conditions made for a nice day out.
Reporter: “So, are you just gonna hang out and watch as the conditions kinda get worse or what’s your plan?”
“I’ll probably just jump in this water. Probably just hang out for a little while and see what the weather brings. So, beyond that, like to have a little fun. Beyond that, looking at this beautiful view and stuff,” said Pascagoula resident Howard Reese. “So, everybody, y’all come out here. Real deal. It’s beautiful. y’all have a good time. This wind… its blowing real good. It feels super good out here.”
Another local was hoping the wind would help him enjoy a favorite hobby of his and catch a glimpse of the sunset.
“Well, when the wind’s good I can put up one of the kites and it’ll give you enough boost to skate the beach with just wind power. Today, with it being so inconsistent, it’s not really working out all that well,” said Pascagoula resident Brandon Bardwell.
