Hurricane Francine impacts on the Pass Christian Harbor
The Pass Christian Harbor seeing affects of Hurricane Francine as well.
There was a capsized boat in the harbor. Ahead of the storm, a voluntary evacuation was ordered.
Crews are currently working to clear debris from the area and bring the harbor back to pre-storm conditions.
WXXV News 25 talked to Pass Christian Fire Rescue Chief and Manager Dia’mond Woodman in the aftermath of the storm. “So, the aftermath of Francine has been less than anticipated but we still have a reasonable amount of cleanup to do at the harbor, we have debris that blew in throughout the harbor. We have crews working since daylight, we got out and started doing our damage assessments. Begin our cleanup process. Trying to get our customers and tenants back in the harbor for normal business. As soon as possible is our goal. The sooner they get in, the sooner everyone can get back into normal business. When a storm is coming, you don’t have to wait for a mandatory evacuation. If we issue a voluntary, that is the time to secure your property and get it out of the harbor.”
The City of Pass Christian posted on social media that the west harbor is open and the east harbor should open some time tonight.
