Humane Society of South Mississippi opens after-hours vet clinic
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)-If your pet needs medical attention after your veterinarian’s office closes, there’s now a new option on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The Humane Society of South Mississippi officially opened its new veterinary urgent care clinic this week, expanding access to after-hours care for pets across the Coast.
The clinic is designed to bridge the gap between regular veterinary office hours and emergency care, offering compassionate and more affordable treatment for non-life threatening urgent medical needs. Humane Society of South Mississippi CEO Lori West said, “There was huge gap in affordability for people that had urgent care needs for their animals and they were in a very difficult position. What would they do after-hours if their animal was in such great need? And we are very excited to be able to help in that capacity knowing that there are so many people who just aren’t able to get that kind of help after-hours. So, we’re thrilled to be able to offer a more affordable option to people that need assistance with their pets after-hours.”
The clinic is open Wednesday through Friday from 5 p.m. until midnight and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m.
