Humane Society of South Mississippi discounting pet adoption for ‘Clear the Shelter’

If you are thinking about adopting a pet, August is the perfect time to bring home a furry friend.

The Humane Society of South Mississippi is on a mission to clear the shelter. Clear the Shelter is a nationwide pet adoption campaign sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

Pet adoption rates have significantly declined since the COVID-19 pandemic. In honor of Clear the Shelter Month, the Humane Society of South Mississippi is discounting adoption fees at the shelter.

Adoption fees for all animals over five months old are $15 through the month of August. Development Director Katie King said, “We just want to encourage everyone to open up their homes to a pet. If you’re able to, we have so many animals that are so amazing that are in need of loving homes.”

The Humane Society of South Mississippi has pets of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments.
