Humane Society celebrates National Adoption Week

The Humane Society has a busy weekend coming up in their efforts to celebrate National Adoption Week.

The wellness clinic is doing a community pop up pet resource wellness fair at Bayou Landing apartment complex in Gulfport where they will give the first 100 pets free vaccinations and microchips.

It will be this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. only to residents who are in the 39503 district. Those residents will have to show proof on scene. Dogs must be on a leash and cats in carriers.

On Saturday, PetSmart in Gulfport and D’Iberville is teaming up with the Humane Society to try and get a total of 80 dogs and cats adopted. HSSM Development Director Katie King said, “We encourage everyone to please support your local animal shelter. You can do that through adopting. You can do that through donating, volunteering your time, and also not only recognizing the many animals that need homes, but the staff that cares for them every single day.”
