Humane Society begins $25 adoptions for the holidays

The Humane Society of South Mississippi is making it the easiest time to adopt.

The shelter is now running a $25 adoption special for its animals through December 24th. The $25 adoption fee includes spay or neuter surgery, up to date vaccinations, rabies tag, starter bag of food, microchip, and a lifetime of love.

Puppies and kittens are not included in the promotion.

The shelter is running this sale to encourage residents to adopt and to help lower the number of animals in foster care due to an overpopulation in the shelter. HSSM Development Director Katie King said, “It’s a huge, huge deal. You can’t really find that anywhere else to include all of those items. So, 25 dollars to adopt a new member of your family is really nothing when it covers all of that. We want to remind everyone that a pet is a lifetime commitment. Not something that you get for the holidays and then return them to the shelter.”

If you cannot commit to adoption, you can still contribute by donating to the Humane Society’s Chicken Soup Fund which provides medical care for sick and injured animals.
