Human remains found in Jefferson County after hunters smell foul odor

Human remains were found under a blanket in Mississippi after a foul smell led deer hunters to the scene Saturday, August 12th.

According to our media partner the Sun Herald, Jefferson County deputies said the hunters were near a camp in the Lorman area when they followed the smell and found the remains, which authorities believe have been at the site for about three weeks.

According to media outlets in the area, there are no reported missing people in the area which leads officials to believe the person’s body was moved.

Deputies say the incident is still under investigation and the remains were sent to a crime lab.
