Human Remains Found in Harrison County

An investigation launches after a body is found in Harrison County.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove tells News 25 human remains were found in the woods just off of Oak Drive in Saucier. Two men were walking in the woods when they saw the bones and then called the authorities.
Harrison County deputies responded to the scene around 12:30 yesterday.
Hargrove says the body has been sent off to Jackson for a full autopsy to determine who the body belongs to.
Meanwhile, the two cousins who discovered the remains say they are still in disbelief. Paul Trotter found the human remains. He said, “Well, we were going to look for some scrap and seen some metal back there, walked back there, pulled up a piece of metal and stuff like that. As soon as we did, we seen some bones towards the side. I was like ‘dang, those are some big ol’ bones. Can’t be a deer or nothing.’ Well, he looked down and there was a skull of a person laying underneath him and we freaked out. Got out of the woods and called the law.”
Hargrove tells News 25 investigators have a good idea who the human remains belong to, but are waiting on autopsy results to confirm their suspicions.
