Hugh Keating sworn in as Gulfport mayor

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- In the City of Gulfport Monday, incoming Mayor Hugh Keating and members of the City Council were sworn into office.

They were joined by family members, friends, other Coast leaders, and plenty of residents in the chapel at Centennial Plaza. Each official took an oath of office, promising to fulfill their duties in the interest of the citizens they will serve.

Council members Kendal Lamar Buckner, Ron P. Roland, Ella Jean Holmes-Hines, F.B. Rusty Walker the Fourth, B.J. Sellers Jr., Carissa Corbett, and John L. Hoggatt took the individual oaths in the ceremony, followed by Mayor Elect Hugh Keating.

After being sworn in, Mayor Keating addressed the crowd, emphasizing that South Mississippi will continue to grow stronger together.

These elected officials officially begin their terms July 1.
