Hugh Freeze named Liberty head coach

Compared to being named the offensive coordinator of the Arizona Hotshots, former Ole Miss Head Coach Hugh Freeze just made a big step up less than two months later as the new head man at Liberty University.

Today, Freeze agreed to terms with the Flames, following the retirement of former coach Turner Gill on Monday.

Freeze was dealt a one-year show cause penalty, following an NCAA investigation into the Ole Miss program and had previously resigned from his post in July 2017 for a pattern of personal misconduct.

Freeze led the Rebels to an overall record of 39-25 during his six year run and gave a convocation speech to the Liberty student body in January.

Located in Lynchburg, Virginia, Liberty moved from the FCS to the FBS as an independent school in 2017.
