House Resolution 106 introduced by Rep. Mike Ezell passes

The House of Representatives passed a resolution introduced by Congressman Mike Ezell, a measure expressing support for law enforcement officers across the country.

House Resolution 106 was originally introduced on May 6th. Fellow Mississippi Congressman Michael Guest co-sponsored the bill.

The resolution condemns efforts to defund local police agencies.

In remarks on the House floor this week, Ezell pointed to the sacrifices made by some of our South Mississippi law enforcement officers over the past few years. “In December of 2022, Bay St. Louis Police Sergeant Steve Robin and Officer Branden Estorffe were shot and killed while conducting a welfare check on a woman and child sitting in a vehicle. Last June, Madison Police Officer Randy Tyler was shot and killed while responding to a hostage situation. This January, George County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeremy Malone was shot and killed during a traffic stop on a rural highway. These men who made the ultimate sacrifice represent the best of our state and our nation.”

This is the 10th piece of legislation introduced by Representative Ezell since January 2023 and the first to pass the whole House.
