House Representative District 119 candidates speak to community at Candidate Forum
North Gulfport Civic Club hosts its 37th annual Candidates Forum at the Isaiah Fredericks Community Center.
The community got the opportunity to meet the two House District 119 candidates. Jeffrey Hullum III and Gary Fredericks are both on the ballot for the special election on July 19th.
The forum touched on subjects of crime, education, infrastructure, funding, and resources for the people in District 119. District Four Supervisor Board President Kent Jones said, “This is a tremendous debate. Both of those candidates are very knowledgeable. I know them personally; I think they’ll do a good job. It’s what the public needs. You want to come out and be able to talk to your candidates and see what their stance is and you could either agree or disagree, but the most important thing is that you’re informed, the community is really engaged. This is an important race.”
The winner of next week’s special election will take over for Representative Sonya Williams Barnes who resigned to take a new job.
