House passes coastal resiliency bill sponsored by Congressman Ezell

A bill introduced in the U.S. House by Congressman Mike Ezell focusing on coastal resiliency now heads to the Senate after being passed by the House Monday.

House Resolution 22-94 is a reauthorization bill for the integrated ocean observation system.

That system provides researchers with real-time data on things like ocean conditions, coastal hazards, and weather conditions, and helps coastal leaders make decisions impacting emergency response and local industry, especially when it comes to hurricanes, algal blooms, and more.

Congressman Mike Ezell released a statement after the bill’s passage, saying the move ensures Mississippi’s coastal communities have a way to monitor critical conditions.

This bill now heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
