House bills signed by Governor Reeves

Governor Tate Reeves announced he signed House Bill 1715, directing an additional $74 million to improve the state’s rural water infrastructure.

The money will be allocated to the Department of Health to help fund the Rural Water Association’s infrastructure grant program.

It will assist rural water associations in the construction of eligible drinking water infrastructure projects in the communities.

Governor Reeves also signed House Bill 698, guaranteeing water billing rates will be fairly applied based on usage.

He says concerns have been raised as some have suggested moving away from the billing model currently used water water systems across the country in favor of basing water usage rates on other factors, such as property values

Governor Reeves says this would create a billing models that would financially penalize people based on factors unrelated to how much water they choose to use.
