House Bill 732 signed by Governor: 988 Suicide Prevention and Crisis Lifeline System
House Bill 732 passed the Mississippi Legislature and has been signed by the governor.
The bill, sponsored by Mississippi State Representative Kevin Felsher of Harrison County, provides legislature intent for the 988 Suicide Prevention and Crisis Lifeline System. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline will be reached by dialing three single digits: 988.
The system goes online in July.
The 988 Planning Coalition worked for more than a year on HB 732 alongside the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, mental health providers and advocates, crisis line operators, law enforcement, and more.
