Hotel fire claims the life of man in Pascagoula
A fire in a Pascagoula motel room has claimed the life of a partially disabled man today.
At around 6:30 p.m. a fire was reported at King’s Inn in Pascagoula after the victim’s mother saw smoke exiting the air vents.
A Pascagoula fire truck was nearby and responded to the fully involved fire in just under a minute. Upon extinguishing the flames, the body of a male was discovered.
Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd has identified the victim as 28-year-old Donovan Montgomery, who was partially disabled, paralyzed from the waist down.
According to Pascagoula Fire Chief Hyler Krebs, the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office and there were no other injuries reported.
