Hot and humid stretch continues

Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead

Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 79. A few showers or thunderstorms are possible through the early evening, but most areas should stay dry.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, hot and humid. High temperatures will reach around 97 degrees, with heat index values as high as 111. There is only a small chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm, mainly after 4 p.m.

The heat continues Wednesday, with another high near 97 and heat index values potentially reaching 113. A few more showers and thunderstorms could develop during the afternoon, but widespread rain is not expected.

Thursday brings another mostly sunny and hot day, with temperatures again climbing to around 97. The chance for an afternoon storm remains low.

By Friday and into the weekend, temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 90s. There will be a daily chance for a few afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms, but most of the area should remain dry.
