Hot and humid pattern continues into the weekend
Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead
The heat isn’t going anywhere as we head into the weekend and through much of next week. Afternoon highs will climb into the mid and upper 90s each day, while heat index values will peak between 107 and 112 degrees during the hottest part of the afternoon.
Friday looks dry with mostly sunny skies and a high near 98. The hot weather continues through the weekend, with highs around 98 to 99 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. While most of the weekend stays dry, there’s about a 20% chance of an isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm on Saturday.
Looking ahead, the forecast changes very little. High temperatures will remain in the upper 90s through Thursday with warm overnight lows in the upper 70s. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms become possible each day beginning Monday, but many locations will remain dry.
If you have outdoor plans, take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged time outside during the peak afternoon heat. Heat index values near 110° can quickly lead to heat-related illness.
