Horses Escape Flaming Barn
Two horses and their caretaker are safe after a fire took over a barn in Woolmarket.
The Biloxi Fire Department responded to the barn on Holley Road around 1 o’clock this afternoon. The fire was fully involved. It took three units, about 20 firefighters and assistance from the Harrison County Fire Service to put the flames out. The horses were in the barn at the time of the fire but their caretaker was able to get them to safety with no injuries.
Biloxi Fire Department Deputy Chief of Operations Jeff Merrill said, “The residents are out of town and you have a caretaker here that takes care of the horses. He was here on the scene, got them out and he has them secured.”
The structure is a total loss. The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
