Honoring the fallen at the Biloxi National Cemetery

The Biloxi National Cemetery stands adorned with 27,000 flags, each one representing a life sacrificed in service to our country.

Today, families and loved ones gathered for the Memorial Day ceremony, a poignant reminder of the profound impact of our fallen heroes.

Colonel Billy Pope, commander of the 81st Training Wing, delivered a powerful speech at the Biloxi National Cemetery Ceremony.

Joined by community and local leaders, veterans, and friends and loved ones of the fallen, the gathering honored the sacrifices made by our brave servicemen and servicewomen. Col. Pope said, “Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and solemnity for all of us. We should carry that sentiment with us, but it’s also a call to action. It is our duty to live a life of purpose and service, as a tribute to our fallen brothers and sisters. And frankly, it’s a day to celebrate because I know that’s exactly what they would do if given the opportunity.”

Volunteers will be needed this Saturday morning at 9 a.m. to help pick up the flags.
