Honoring K9 Veteran’s Day with Keesler AFB K9 Ruck March
The 81st Training Wing’s Security Forces Squadron hosted a ruck march in honor of K9 Veteran’s Day.
K9 Veteran’s Day is a day set aside to honor the past and present military working dogs in the Department of Defense.
The event started with opening remarks from the 81st Security Forces Squadron Commander followed by the 5K Ruck March.
Military working dogs from Keesler and the Seabee Base in Gulfport took part in the March. Senior Airman Tessa Spare said, “It’s a different, unique kind of bond. We are out here with our dogs. We are working with our dogs every day. You work with your human partner every day. You can talk to them, but a person doesn’t trust you as much as a dog because that dog relies on you to feed them, to bath them, to groom them, to take care of them. So, you are kind of like their lifeline.”
After the march, everyone gathered at the Military Working Dog Training Station to watch a K9 demonstration.
