Honoring Harrison County Law Enforcement

This morning, deputies with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office received a unique award for their time dedicated to service.
Officers were given pins they can show off on their uniforms which indicate how long they’ve been with the department. Around 275 deputies were awarded the pins. The ceremony honored men and women who have served the public from a range of five to 40 years.
This is the first year the department has held this ceremony. Sheriff Troy Peterson says it’s just one way of letting these deputies know they’re appreciated. “This is a way that we can give back to them to show them that they are appreciated. It’s something that I really feel strongly about, taking care of the employees here. It’s just another tool that they can use to show the community how long they’ve been here and how much effort they’ve put back into this community how long they’ve been here and how much effort they’ve put back into this community in Harrison County.”
Sheriff Peterson tells News 25 this is a tradition that will continue as long as he is in office.
