Honoring family on Memorial Day

For widows like Mrs. Sarah Primus Memorial Day is always spent with her husband.

Gunnery Sergeant Roscoe Primus served his country in the Marine Corps during World War II, the Korean War, and in Vietnam. He retired from the service in 1968 and passed away in 2001.

Sarah says she feels it is important to remember and honor his service so all can enjoy the freedoms we have today.  “Since he’s buried here, this is my burial site. I come here to recognize him here with all the other veterans here.”

Sarah says Gunnery Sgt. Primus was among the first African-American members of the U.S. Marine Corps
