Homeowners to appeal lawsuit dismissal over 2023 renewal plan in Ocean Springs
A group representing Ocean Springs property owners in a federal lawsuit says it will appeal the court’s decision to dismiss a lawsuit tied to the city’s urban renewal plan.
The Institute for Justice is representing a group of homeowners who disagree with the city’s decision to label their home as blighted in a 2023 urban renewal plan.
Judge Taylor McNeel ruled the city’s action was a legislative action that did not require notice or could be reviewed by courts as a reason for the dismissal.
Meanwhile, Ocean Springs Mayor Kenny Holloway is reacting to the court’s decision, saying in part, it affirms the city followed the law and that city leaders will continue to seek community input moving forward.
