Homeless Resource Center approved in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- The City of Gulfport is excited to approve funding to the South Mississippi Housing Authority for the acquisition and rehabilitation of a new homeless resource center.

The Homeless Resource Center will serve as a welcome center where individuals can access basic needs and stabilizing assistance.

The City of Gulfport sought proposals from local organizations for eligible projects that could utilize funds to address homelessness in the community.

The facility will feature an onsite health clinic, shower facilities, and laundry room lockers to secure personal belongings.

There will also be a private office and meeting space, housing navigation services, and a warming kitchen for meal distribution.

Another thing the center will be offering is a community center with phones and computers.
