Home of Grace celebrates 58 years of miracles

Hundreds of men and women from across the country traveled to the Coast to celebrate freedom from addiction and a milestone for a local recovery organization.

The Home of Grace Homecoming brings together alumni and friends of the addiction recovery program to share in each other’s successes.

News 25 spoke to one alum who graduated from the program 28 years ago, Randy Smith is now a pastor.

While he can’t attend every homecoming, he likes to offer encouragement to others in recovery and reflect on his own journey overcoming addiction. “Just a special feeling. It reminds me on a daily basis I forget where I came from, but coming back here reminds me where I came from. So, I’m thankful.”

Women’s Program Director Shellene Barton said, “To seem them begin to inch by inch go from absolute hopelessness to a life of joy and happiness, like I said, the restoration that takes place here is nothing short of a miracle.”

Homecoming also recognizes others for their service with Home of Grace, like Barton. She’s devoted years of service to the women’s program.
