Home for the Holidays Ambulance Service
Many of us drive home to see loved ones on Thanksgiving. For some on the Coast, that isn’t an option.
Many nursing home residents are unable to go back home for the holidays due to medical issues that don’t allow them to travel by any other means than by a specialized vehicle. For the 25th year, AMR Ambulance Service is helping with their Home for the Holidays program, transporting a handful of individuals home for Thanksgiving so they can spend time with their loved ones.
Operation Supervisor Dan Mock said, “It warms my heart every year that we do this. I’m usually working Thanksgiving. It’s a big time of the year. I love the holiday season and we love to be able to extend out to the Gulf Coast and the residents and help them in any way we can and make someone’s holiday season just a little brighter.”
AMR provided trips to six elderly residents across the Coast. The residents that participated are chosen by the nursing facility and were so grateful.
