This holiday’s Rockefeller center tree is officially chosen

The countdown to the holidays is ramping up. We’re getting a glimpse of this year’s iconic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.

This is the mighty Norway spruce selected to stand tall in the Big Apple throughout the holidays.

Rockefeller Center officials taking to Instagram to showcase the tree before it gets the chop, saying they tend to pick older trees for this honor and make sure to plant a new one in its place.

The legendary Christmas tree is donated to habitat for humanity after the festivities so it can be turned into lumber.

The tree is expected to be cut down November 7th and will be erected in New York City on November 9th.
