Holiday Travels
Christmas is only days away which means that travelers are packing their bags and hitting the airways.
Airlines for America estimates that 38 million passengers will fly American Airlines between December 17th and January 3rd. That’s up three percent from last year.
The Coast isn’t the only area having unseasonably warm temperatures. Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport officials say while airlines are usually dealing with delays due to ice and snow, rain and fog are causing delays at airlines across the country but luckily there have been few delays here on the Coast. Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport Executive Director Clay Williams said, “A lot of people are traveling. It’s a very exciting time of year. People are going to visit family and friends. People are excited to travel by air but we do encourage those who are traveling to check with their airline in advance, particularly this time of year. Make sure there are no delays. Also, check with the airline on their policies in terms of what you can bring on board. Gifts, a lot of times, they recommend you leave the gifts unwrapped and just making sure you know in advance before you travel.”
