Holiday travel will reach pre-pandemic numbers
Pack your patience as holiday travel is expected to rebound this year.
According to AAA, about 53.4 million people will travel for the Thanksgiving holiday, up 13% from 2020.
With more people traveling this holiday season, it is important to be patient, plan ahead, and pack properly to facilitate the screening process and ease your travel experience.
Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport Director of Marketing Chaille Munn tells News 25 air travel will look like it did pre-pandemic. “We recommend everyone arrive with plenty of time to get checked in and get through security. We recommend at least an hour and half ahead of time. We also recommend that you bring your mask per TSA regulations. Masks are still required in the airport as well as on airplanes and that will last until January 18th, currently.”
With holiday travel up this year, this brings travel volumes within five percent of pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
This leaves air travel almost completely recovering from the drastic fall during the pandemic.
