Holiday surprise in D’Iberville
For the Goss family, this holiday season was one of joy and one of sorrow. The family lost one of their seven children three months ago. However, a group of good Samaritans wanted to make sure that they had a reason to celebrate.
Beau Harmon and the parents from CheerZone have never met the Goss family, but that did not stop them from making sure they had a Christmas to remember. “There was some people who needed some help, needed a boost, some happiness and morale and help with Christmas. I asked the parents if they wanted to donate anything and help out. I was overwhelmed with the amount of support that we had from everyone. Eight gifts for each child and then we had a couple of family gifts and then we had some gift cards for dinner.”
This Christmas, the Goss family will have to celebrate with hanging one less stocking since 12-year-old Madison Goss passed away in October from a severe asthma attack. “We ate breakfast with her that morning and we were just outside with other kids helping with bike tires and stuff like that. Then we come inside. It changed our lives forever.” “Take time with your children because they could be gone really quickly.”
With many added expenses this year, the family was worried about how they would provide a special Christmas for their other six children. “We’ve had the school donate money for her funeral and everything. That was the hardest part, trying to figure out how to come up with that and a lot of people have done that to help. You don’t plan to bury your child.”
Madison’s family says she loved being an older sister and was known as the little mama to her siblings. “We are really proud of her because she’s touched a lot of people and brought a lot of people to Christ even in her short life.” “We talk to people all the time that didn’t know her very much, but if you knew her ten minutes or if you knew her ten years then you knew what kind of person she was. She loved everybody and she loved children and she loved to help everybody.”
