Holiday Event To Honor First Responders
A local church is taking it to the front lines this Memorial Day, in the kitchen that is. This is all in an effort to express appreciation for those who protect us: our first responders.
Members of First Lizana Baptist Church will be up super early Monday, working the griddle, making a delicious pancake breakfast. The breakfast is free to any of our first responders and their families.
This annual tradition is being revived this year after a brief hiatus.
Any first responder, including firemen, police, deputies, medics, and jail workers, are invited, as well as their families. Mike McCarroll with First Baptist Church of Lizana public relations said, “Our new pastor is really excited about the pancake breakfast. As a matter of fact, he’s going to be helping to cook and things like that. I would like to mention one thing that the first responders can get these to go if they need to. In the past, we’ve had fire trucks pull in and get 20 of them and take them back to the station.”
The breakfast is free and all first responders and their families are invited. It will be at First Lizana Baptist Church on Highway 53 in Gulfport and begins at 6 a.m. on Monday. Take out plates are available.
