Holiday Cards for Recovering Soldiers

Some soldiers who can’t be with their families on Christmas will soon receive some homemade cards from a group of students at D’Iberville Middle School.
The fourth graders have been working all week on Christmas cards for recovering soldiers at the Walter Reed Recovery Center in Washington, D.C. Fourth grade language arts teacher Breanne Prince says it’s a way for students to meet their writing standards while wishing the wounded soldiers a merry Christmas and letting them know they’re thankful for their hard work protecting our freedom.
Fourth grader Jeremiah Butler said, “My card is, well of course it’s about the soldiers getting well and risking their lives for ours, and I also want them to get well and be able to see their families and their kids.”
Fourth grader Jennifer Bui said, “I want the soldiers to get well and to see their families for Christmas. I really want them to get better.”
About 75 cards will be sent out tomorrow.
