Co-owner Phillip LaGrange recently decided to put the Blue Rose up for sale. “It’s time to retire, pass on the legacy.”
The Blue Rose is one of the oldest historic homes on the Gulf Coast. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, the mansion was a five star restaurant. “A lot of people remember that. We had movie stars, dignitaries from all over the world actually,” said LaGrange.
The business plans to continue booking weddings, special events, and extended stays. Recently the Blue Rose has been identified as the sight of the Bed Sheet Surrender during the Civil War. The landmark has also made the list of haunted places. Guests have reported seeing the ghost of a woman who passed away from yellow fever in the house during the 1800s. “There have been sightings of her carrying a little small dog and even today we hear periodic strange noises.”
The Blue Rose is advertised as a four million dollar home. “There are museum quality pieces in here, European antiquity, original oils.”
Now in selling the Blue Rose, it’s not monetary value these owners are looking for, rather someone who can mirror the same etiquette and professionalism they have for the past 30 years. “This building belongs to the state of Mississippi. It’s a legacy for the people, all the weddings, all the notoriety through the years.”
