Hinds County District Attorney facing felony charges

The top prosecutor in Mississippi’s largest county is facing felony charges of stalking and robbery.
Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith turned himself in for booking in neighboring Rankin County where he was indicted. The 46-year-old also faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence.
Multiple reports say Smith told reporters on his way into the Rankin County Jail in Brandon that he didn’t know details about the charges.
The attorney general’s office charged Smith last year with conspiring to hinder prosecution of a drug case. In January, a jury could not agree on whether to convict him.
