Highway 90 Olive Garden site may soon be developed

The beachfront property that once was home to Olive Garden in Biloxi may soon become a gas station and convenience store.

According to our media partner the Sun Herald, one company is looking to invest as much as $4 million to develop the property at the corner of Highway 90 and Debuys Road.

That site has sat empty for the past 17 years ever since Hurricane Katrina battered the popular Italian restaurant.

But now GMRI Incorporated, a subsidiary of Darden Restaurants, which operates Olive Garden among others, has presented plans to build again.

Renderings presented at the Biloxi Planning Commission Meeting in March showed a 7/11 Gas Station with outdoor seating.

The commission approved the project.

Next it will have to gain the approval of city council members before moving forward.
