Highway 26 collapse in George County claims the life of 39-year-old Wiggins woman

The devastating Highway 26 road collapse claimed the life of another individual, bringing the death toll to three.

Thirty-nine-year-old Amanda Williams from Wiggins was traveling west on August 30th, the night the road collapsed, when she crashed into the embankment and received injuries.

She was transported to Memorial Hospital at Stone County.

According to her husband’s Facebook post, Williams died from cardiac arrest around 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning.

Her husband, Danny Ray Williams’, post reads: “I promise to take care of our babies and make sure they do right in life.”

Williams’ 16-year-old daughter Emily was also hospitalized after the collapse, but is expected to recover.
