High School Volleyball: East Central vs. Vancleave

Over the last four years, the Vancleave volleyball program has been the golden standard here on the Gulf Coast.

Tonight, that standard was very much challenged by East Central, the same team that stole this year’s district title on point differential.

Visiting Lady Bulldogs looking to punch their fifth consecutive trip to the state championship match and it would take single point.

Lady Bulldogs are going back to state for the fifth year in a row. Vancleave Outside hitter Lyndi Bakker said, “It’s amazing. It’s amazing to know that now we can push it on to state and know that we have the fight in us to control the game and it’s our game at all times.”

Vancleave Head Coach Heather Allen said, “I knew that they could do it. I’ve told them all season; we have worked so hard. From the summer until now is absolutely amazing. They’ve done it. They’ve grown as a family.”

The Lady Bulldogs improve their overall record to 19-17.
